“When I see money on the stove, I could whip a bowl”. – Justin A. Starks
Money is the subject. To me money is life. Now I am not saying I will sell my soul for it, but it does play a big part in how I see my life headed forward. I do say follow your dream and money will come. Never stress over money to the point that it kills you. Never stress over money to the point you sell out your own kind or the ones you love the most. Always let your purpose be the reason you achieve great amounts of wealth. No matter what you do just make sure it is something you love to do for the money.
Don’t let time pass you by or any other hour. Every minute is valuable and you have to know exactly how important every second is to the mission. Becoming someone with regrets means you wasted a lot of years doing nothing. You were someone who said, “Oh I will do this tomorrow, next week, or when the opportunity is right”. That’s not living at all. That’s what I call dead procrastination.
Foolery behind you
It’s time to leave the foolery behind you and work your magic with your passion. Last week people have died indulging in the foolery. They let the streets or worse situations get to them. If you are the type to let every situation get the best of you then it is time for a change. If you want a dollar you can’t be the same as everyone else and when I say dollar, I mean a huge amount. The type of amount you need everyone in your family to count it all. Stop playing and leave that foolery behind you. It’s time to get a dollar, not another dead problem/partner
Work your Magic
In order to get the amount of money you have always dreamed of, you have no choice but to work you magic. Let go of that comfortable blanket you are always use to and get a new one. Let go of the people who are always there to protect you when you get a baby bruise. Learn how to get up and make your own decisions. We need more leaders, not anymore followers. We can’t keep dodging failures, baby that come with the dream! Time to work that magic and get everything you have always dreamed of. It’s not hard but it isn’t easy. Stop playing and make it breezy!
“Never turn your back, if they stayed down”- Justin A. Starks
Never turn your back on those that supported you since day 1. Your real family, friends, and all above loved ones. As you grow make sure they are growing as well. Doesn’t necessarily mean give them money or any of your possessions but check up on them and see how they are doing. Have a level of respect and show them you do appreciate them sticking by your side along the way.
Many people miss blessings because they turn their backs on the ones that looked out for them when no one else did so. I know sometimes we feel like no one was there but in reality some were and we have to make sure their appreciated.
If they are willing to put in the same hours as you and build a legacy it doesn’t make any sense to turn your back. If the ones who rocking with you are able to put aside differences and make something out of themselves right along with you it doesn’t make any sense to leave them in the wind once you get on. Be someone of character and build the people. Have great discipline and remain humble.
Some things can get you off track on your journey to success. Make sure you take time off but never get rid of the mission at hand. Stay humble and remember why you started in the first place. If it’s really your ultimate goal then continue to grow.
Staying focused can be hard. We all have a life to handle and our dreams sometimes get put on the back burner until we stumble across them once again. The key is to still feed that dream. Still vision yourself completing that goal and work hard to get it done. Likewise, it’s okay to take a break here and there, but don’t forget to put your “goal cap” back on.
Many times I get bored and lose track of time. I sometimes get down on myself because I see no progress. I find myself blaming everything else around me instead of owning up to my crap. I had to learn quickly that I was to blame. I had to learn quickly that I had to change. Once I figured it was me stopping me, I prevailed and seen a drastic change.
Question: Have you ever gotten off track? What did it take for you to continue your journey to success?
“Some days I be like screw it all, then I recoup and press forward.” – Justin A. Starks
When you feel alone
Most days when we are so busy doing for others we forget that we have problems in this hectic world as well. This could cause a mental breakdown and be painful to your mission. Sure, I get it, we have to be acquired to have good people skills and look out for others, but that doesn’t mean throw your own feelings in the closet. By doing so, you are setting yourself up for failure. Learn to express your feelings and vent to people in your life who cares for you.
Learn to prioritize
Work, work, and work is all we know when we hear our alarm clock in the early morning. We spend so much time getting ready for a job most of us barely love, instead of working on our ultimate success plan. Learning to prioritize has helped me tremendously. Before hand, I would always tell myself I didn’t have time or I was too tired to accomplish anything I knew I had to work on in order to grow. I had to drop that toxic mentality and put my ideas on the agenda and stick to my plan.
Accept the challenge
We tend to run from a challenge. If we don’t step in the game we will never know how to play and just be a lost soul on the roster. No matter how bad it may seems or frightening, accept the challenge and prosper. Sometimes when I have a new challenge on the table for the grabs, I take a deep breathe and openly accept the position. I don’t run, I look at it as a stepping stone for improvement. Sometimes I complain and get frustrated, but I also tell myself it will all pay off. It never hurts to step up and try even if you are going to fail. Who cares! Keep it pressing and learn. That’s how you grow.
We all have dreams. We all have that 1 next big ideal that’s ready to change how we live life and experience growth. Just as a kid eyes lights up when he says he wants to become a doctor. Don’t we all have a dream? Don’t we all wish in some form or fashion that everything would go our way for the better?
Thoughts will guide you
Every morning you wake up your thoughts guide you. You change every situation. No matter how hard you try you are what you think about the most. In order to change your habits you have to change your thought process. Instead of saying I can’t do it, why not say I can do it. Instead of saying I don’t have time, why not make time. Positivity is the approach that should be made, not anymore excuses.
Better Version of you
What is it you are doing to become a better version of you? What does your inner circle look like? Remember, if your 5 closest friends aren’t making the right decisions than you aren’t either just based on association. I have seen it too many times when a young man follows the crowd and in up in prison or under ground.
Dig Deeper than Before
In order to change your mindset you have to dig deep. Dig deeper than before and create the life you always wanted. It takes much discipline and less procrastination to do so, but yes it can be done. Remember, days go by and dreams will die if you don’t make the corrective adjustments.
Question: Are you giving your all or complaining about time?
It’s hard in this economy but it’s your fault. We have to take control of our income and run our money business appropriately. Think of your yearly income as your first business. You don’t want to lose everything, right? Of course not.
Money discipline is key to getting rich. Many of my peers and even you think it’s impossible but it’s not. It does take close observance of your bank account(s) and budget sheets. This is just the beginning of having the discipline of the rich.
If you can’t manage a measly 20,000 a year to live comfortably then how will you ever be trusted to protect and watch over thousands, millions, or even billions of dollars daily. It’s just not going to happen.
Stated above, I touched up on the root of having money discipline. Those two ingredients are simple – make a plan, execute, and diverse your money into money making income streams. My way is investing in the Stock Market and having a fully funded Savings. If you don’t make money in your sleep then you will forever work for the ones who does.
2. Spend less
Question: Are you following a budget or being a fool and parting ways with your hard earned back breaking income?
Going into anything that will better yourself, you have to know from the get go that you are not going to have that much of a support system. When branching off from the majority you have to understand at the door that many unsuccessful dream killers just don’t want you to become a self-motivated dream chaser. It just doesn’t sit well with many people around you.
You will run into dream killers that will do everything in their power to stop you from continuing down the path of success. They want to stop you because they have dreams they were too scared to reach. While all the other little birdies jumped out of their mothers nest, leaving their sweet supportive comfort zone to chase the world, they stayed in leaving their own dreams and dignity behind.
The World around you doesn’t reward unmotivated individuals. Especially us as Black Men. We have to dig deep and be prepared to except ridicule from our own race and others as well. As a Black Man we are at the bottom and need to understand this before we even chase a dream. We have to know there will be many stressful days and nights but we can’t give up pursuing our dreams. We just want have much of support if we don’t do what the majority of the Black Men are doing in the hood; which is going to prison, rapping, gang-banging, serving drugs, being a uneducated fool and many other things that the majority see as the perfect negro. I know it’s hard but your work will pay off if you stick to the path.
As a Black Man you have to know that the world isn’t just going to hand you a pass to success. We have to work 4 times as harder than our oppressors just to be considered valuable. We have to understand that one slip up could cause us 5 times more of a punishment than the opposite race. We see how unfair the prison system is with us within the inner city communities. We know that to be successful we can’t be 40 deep in the club smoking gas toting pistols with negro’s we barely know. Before you even start your own journey it is imperative you know how to continually operate around people who will never value you.
Question: Are you putting in the work?
“Your closet friends reflect you, don’t be that guy”. – Justin A. Starks
Growing up we meet people. We meet people who we were once close friends with and even treated them like if they were family. Over the years we part ways and some friends still remain in ones life because of the memories they have shared . Can’t speak the same for most, that’s why they are not around no more.
Some say people come and go for a reason. Which is true to some extent, but not entirely true. People come and go because of our desire, passion, and will to succeed. Our goals push us towards new crowds in spite that these new people have the same mindset as us. If you have a goal, I honestly say you should be surrounded by the ones who could help you reach your full potential, not waist your knowledge.
Hanging out with “Tommy and the Boys on the Block” who like going too prison & smoke weed is not going to help you any shape or form. Not saying all pot smokers are bad, but the ones who smoke and don’t do anything with their lives are awful for your wellbeing, if you are one your way to become somebody successful. It’s time to listen to mama when she told you since a kid that every one isn’t your friend or family. If your mama never told you then you have to really deviate who your true friends are.
It’s really a time and place for everything and cleaning out your closet isn’t a bad idea at all. Stop giving your time to people who isn’t doing nothing with their time. Eventually their wasted time become your new problems. You have to understand most people can’t keep up with your pace and have to be left behind. Old friends will feel a certain way but forget them if they don’t understand you are on the path of success. It doesn’t make any sense at all to hang around and stay!
Question: Have you ever had a friend that wasn’t good for you? What did you do?
Would you rather take out a loan/credit card to steal wealth from your future self & still be living paycheck to paycheck, but be happy with your overpriced impulse buying items or invest in the stock market to profit your future self and enjoy the fruits and labor of your wealth?
Look in the mirror and ask yourself that question. Matter a fact continue to do whatever you were doing, think deeply, and read this shit again. Even your own child could get this right but for some odd reason you can’t.
“Child: 1 plus 1 is 2, 1 takeaway 1 is 0 mama I can’t be left with no money.”
When are you going to understand that managing your income is top priority. No one knows you like yourself. Sure, you can go pay thousands on a financial expert but they are going to tell you what you have been known about yourself.
1. Cut back on spending
2. Set a Emergency Fund
3. Pay off debt
4. Expand and diversify your investments
It’s really that simple. Don’t make this shit complicated. Create a budget and stay on top of your finances. Nobody cares but you. It’s your money you could spend it however you want. Just don’t run to no one else crying about your money problems when you have nothing to survive off of before pay day.
I can’t go back to my old ways
Watching cartoons contemplating on making a move
Listing all my dreams down but not making a move
Kissing on different women playing myself like a fool
Letting everything get to me I didn’t realize all the time I would lose
Lost out on many ideas because I was scared to prevail
A black man who came from nothing they didn’t want me to excel
I had to learn quick that I couldn’t feel sorry for myself
I had to learn quick that no one felt sorry for me
As a black man I have to work even harder to be worthy of a mention
I had to get my mind and lead myself in a positive direction
